here we have the ROSA STUDDED CLUTCH. named after my own mama and original muse. in this new rif on the clutch silhouette, you will get a row of rivets at the bag's 

opening, and a playful tassel at the zipper pull. 

the tension between raw and polished, primitive and industrial, sophisticated and simple, is explored in this design, which will make it a worthy member in your curio cabinet of carry goods.

this particular rendition of THE ROSA STUDDED CLUTCH, is handcrafted of a 5 ounce blush pebbled nappa ~ so sturdy and sublime.

ANATOMY OF A BAG

hello friends! so, some time ago i mentioned a mentor, willy, well at long last here he is.

isn't is nice to put a name with a face. he is the fellow who taught me everything i know about the heritage style hand hammered hardware you have come to recognize as a signature component in my work.  i am so grateful for his selfless teaching, because this riveting technique is rare, tough as nails, and wicked gorgeous.

who are your mentors? i so thrive on the teacher student relationship, and have always sought out fascinating educators in my chosen fields, without them... sheesh, who knows where i would be!

THE QUILTED MIEL SATCHEL

without adieu... i am pleased to introduce the QUILTED MIEL SATCHEL, which is the latest

design in the SITALISA MARIE collection. a consummate of modern/vintage flair... flaunting some serious High Art, Wearable Coolitude!

i have begun to work with new sides of leather... my design repertoire is rapidly maturing and i have really been feeling the need to introduce work that is entirely from scratch ~ my design mind loves loves loves to create something stellar out of nothing.  i will still be offering the vintage coat re-made collection, for all kinds of reasons.

the QUILTED MIEL is made of  4 oz.taupe, nappa leather, which only gets better and better as it ages. let me tell you it is a true pleasure to work with, and it is an even greater pleasure to wear and use. 

can we chat hardware for a moment? see those gorgeous little metal circle on the bag up there? well, those are all hand hammered brass and copper rivets, pounded out with tons of love, by yours truly, on my anvil. i challenge you to find a bag on the market with such attention to detail... it's like having rugged jewels that have been excavated from pompeii, right there on your bag. Hand hammered metal... another feature that gets better and better as it ages.  you probably also noticed the bull ring buckle, right? which means this satchel is wearable for one and all. bet you also noticed the button stud closure on the hand quilted radial front flap too.  there is a D ring on the front flat, and let me just say, that is not just a random design choice... the gal who now owns this bag,( who by the way, is jetting off tomorrow to PARIS with her MIEL SATCHEL), is a serious cyclist. so that D ring is for her to clip her reflector or light to when on her bicycle or scooter by night.

i imagine you already know about the CPW philosophy, but in the case that you don't let me just fill you in real quick here. COST PER WEAR. think about it ~ regarding a bag you use on a near daily basis, that takes the cost of your investment rapidly down into the realm penny per day... super fast. 

i am a big believer in the INNER BAG EXPERIENCE. it is one thing to have a great bag that is hot on the outside but a black hole on the inside.  you will feel efficient when using a SITALISA MARIE bag because just as much care and concern is put into designing the inside as the outside. it is for reasons such as this, that my creations are authentic COUTURE. 

the last thing i wanted to say is that good things do come in pairs. above you see a clutch that was designed to go with the QUILTED MIEL... the bag inside of the bag.  these two carry goods are in a healthy open relationship, they can go together or rock out independently.

TRAVEL LIKE A SAMURAI

here we have THE SAMURAI WEEKENDER, an incredibly roomy travel companion.

the samurai is grounded in the values of gorgeous design, simple shapes, and the power of function, which are stitched into every seam. in designing this piece i have paid attention to what is needed, what is wanted,  which leaves you with a sensuously modern collectible that is at the core, timeless and beyond. as always, i have translated the unassuming vintage leather coat into a downright inimitable work of utilitarian art.

BIG THANKS to all my readers who are checking in on the evolutions of my design work. 

i have been flexing the heck out of my creative muscles over here lately. 

it had been a bit since i have posted any recent work, but rest assured, my work has been my muse, and i feel at times like a one woman industry, with my fingerprints all over every single step of the process.  i hope you find yourself inspired by the tinkering of my hands. 

after pawing the ground for some time, and at the risk of sounding like i have attention deficit disorder,  i have changed the name of my brand, and am delighted to introduce the namesake collection,  SITALISA MARIE.

i have invested in a kingsley stamping machine which allows me to imprint my brand in gold, or silver, or emboss the lettering deep into the surface of the leather. i am 100% fascinated with this contraption and let me just say, it really classes up the aesthetic of my labels, HUGELY!!!! 

i am so grateful to have begun learning some tricks of the trade  from Willy Brewer. Willy is 70 and began working with leather at the formative age of 11.  So far he has taught me how to make old fashioned, harness style, copper and brass rivets. this means i am now hammering away on my anvil and wielding an arsenal of new exciting tools.  

more to come about all this growth... so much more promise.
