PROPS TO THE HATS

these days i am utterly taken by a gal with a hat, particularly this sort of classic look. basically, when you don one of these smarties, you can't be a slacker... a good hat, worn with soul, is a sign of a serious player ~ of some kind or another. i am happy to see more  and more women wearing classy hats currently.  just like a period at the end of a sentence, a hat holds the whole statement together.
what kind of hat do you fancy?

MISS MY PADDLES

you just miss the romance of a good paddle.
not for a few more months though. our boats are nestled beneath a blanket of white,
waiting for their maiden voyage 2012.

FOR THE LOVE OF LEGS

joe's jeans has a mind bending collection of colored skinny jeans.
55 colors to be precise. i think a hearty pop of color makes the monochrome
of winter far more fascinating. i'm a colorist at heart, so i smile at this selection.
personally i could wear skinny jeans every day, and by the way,
when these little babies are no longer on trend, i'm gonna still be waving
this flag. as long as the fit is right, there is nothing distracting about this
kind of garment, comfort, utility, and high style ~ ching, ching, ching.
i love the paper doll sort of styling here.

BIRTHDAY EVE SUITES

can't help but to wish i has a reason to dress like this on my birthday.
something about layer upon layer of tulle, the white cheeks, the red lips,
hearkens back to my ballerina days... some archetypes stay with us forever.

BUNDLE BEAST

today i am sick, with an explosive head, way to much claustrophobic pressure in there. this is a stark contrast to my normal go, do, run, yoga, rock life style. this is pretty much how i am feeling...

WHITE WASH

last spring i entered into what i was candidly referring to as a white out. i was spontaneously inspired to paint everything white. something about this aesthetic really calls me, white floors, white washed walls, and white ceiling. now, i'm not talking about the clinical sterilized white, but that fresh clean palette sort of white that archivally presents just about anything that it placed upon it.

CONSECRATED NUTS

here is a recent piece from the LMO Design table.  as a long time practitioner of yoga and a lover of bhakti, i have a rather substantial collection of mala beads, the yogi's version of the rosary. see those little gold beads? that's what i call consecrated nuts, yes, those are nuts straight from the hardware store debuting their more glamorous side, along side the more spherical, sacred, mala beads. i like this cross between the worlds. wadda ya think crafters, haberdashery junkies, jewelry lovers?

SERIOUSLY SOMETHING

expressing sincere admiration for claire campbell and her  couture collection HIGH.
i really value her philosophy on design. her look book is off the charts beautiful, and these models are so ready to take the elements or the streets by storm.
heck yeah claire campbell.
please please take a sec and watch her winter 2012 video ~ it stole my breath and filled me with longing to hit my own design table with such fervor.

TERRARIUM TUB

last summer i got really involved with making terrariums for my brother's wedding.
i find it infinitely fascinating, a contained environment that is, ideally, self sustaining.
i want to bathe in this mystical space - the best of all worlds, feeling immersed in nature, with a touch of shelter. kind of like bathing in a terrarium.

MILL MAGIC

over the next few day i will be posting places and spaces that inspire me. anyone who knows me knows i adore where we live. on the shore line of beautiful lake monona in madison wisconsin. every day i am reminded that magic is alive as i absorb the vista from my flat. my heart still wanders from this beautiful place though, and i daydream (and sometimes night dream) about lofts, refurbished barns, and old warehouses. i just love a space used in an unexpected way. many years ago, while at university, i did get the chance to live in a barn for a while, there were 4 of us, all wildly artistic, inhabiting the space ~ putting our own bent on how the communal space should be used. some things i recall loving about the barn were the soaring ceilings, the massive window/doors that made you feel connected to nature. the rustic overall nature of this old place was so unique - things of old are so saturated with stories. with a color pop of a modern day painting here and there, a gifted sari wafting from the rafters, and some fascinating folks carrying on, that old barn made for a whimsical, rugged place called home. today i want to show you oswald's mill, an 18th century, 4 story, germanic house-mill in pennsylvania. it so reminds me of the green barn with a few more mature buffed and polished qualities to it. what sort of interior spaces make your heart sing?
